After hours of contemplation, I took the leap and bought myself a Sunl Chinese scooter. I have been wanting a scooter for some time now, but I just didn't want to spend a lot of money on one. I thought that I could find a cheap one on Craigslist or my local classifieds, but it seems like all used ones were going for 8-9 hundred minimum. I wanted a scooter to save on gas and to ride for fun. I have a car so a scooter is not my only means of transportation but with gas prices high and the weather getting nicer, a scooter seems like a great option.
Looking at prices, scooters are not cheap. I figure that the money that I would pay upfront to get a scooter would cost me more than the gas on my car so I have debated getting one in the first place. I came across the idea of getting a replica Chinese scooter, perhaps not the most quality scooters available, but for the price-why not? I wasn't about to spend 3 thousand dollars on a nice scooter, if that were the case, I just would have gone without one. My reasoning behind getting one was to ride to and from work while the weather is nice, its about 4 miles each way. I figure that if I took great care of it, made sure everything is bolted down on it properly, and broke it in right, I could be ok. Worst case senario, I re-sell it for a little less than I paid for it, still making it cheaper for someone to buy a used scooter out there.
The reason I am starting this blog is to be able to post the real truth behind these scooters. I have read so many bad things about this brand and I am not convinced by what I have read so far. I believe that people that have issues with these scooters have not been to the right place to buy them and have not taken proper steps to correct issues. People like to vent on the internet even though it doesn't resolve anything and that is one of the reasons for this blog. I am convinced that if I treat this scooter right, break it in properly, and call the company with any issues that I have, then I will have a positive experience with my Sunl scooter.
This will be interesting because this could be a long, positive blog, or it could be a short, waste of my time if the scooter ends up not working out for me. I ordered it a couple days ago and I'm expecting it in about a week and a half. I will update this frequently and keep a log of everything that happens from my purchase, to receiving my shipment, to pulling it out of the box and starting it up for the first time. So far, so good, lets see how it goes.
